DIOCESAN APPEAL 2021

Bishop Oscar Cantú's Message

We are a people of hope – no matter the circumstances and uncertainties of the present hour. We are called to journey together in hope and to share the challenges that now face us.

Despite the pandemic and the current political and societal challenges, God’s gifts abound in our lives. Our faithful response is to share our blessings. God is calling us to use the gifts entrusted to our care to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Santa Clara County through our parishes and the work of the Diocese that goes beyond the capabilities of any one parish.

...

COVID-19 has impacted all aspects of our lives, including increased spiritual and financial strain on Catholic churches. Despite the hardships, the pandemic has provided many opportunities for the Chancery (central offices of the diocese) to partner even more closely with our parish and school communities to weather this storm.

Throughout the pandemic, the Chancery, with the help of the funds from the 2020 Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA), partnered with our parishes to navigate the pandemic and provide support across all departments so parishes could continue to minister to their parishioners and the vulnerable in our communities.

As never before, our Diocese, our country, indeed the whole world, needs the healing and loving presence of Jesus Christ. The impact that (Christ and the Church) can have on the world depends to a good extent on how each of us gives thanks for our blessings and how we choose to share them.

...

Your participation in the Annual Diocesan Appeal makes a real and tangible impact on lives across our diocese, as our parishes and schools can continue to reach out in Christ’s saving message of love and forgiveness.

...

For this reason, I ask you to prayerfully consider participating generously in this year’s appeal, with the knowledge that in doing so, you are assisting your brothers and sisters in need across the diocese in moment in this moment of such great need.

We are one family, one local church, journeying TOGETHER in hope. With your generosity, we will continue to support each other in doing the work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones!

Thank you.
